THE OPPORTUNITY
The University of Texas Southwestern (UTSW) Medical School seeks an experienced and innovative individual to serve as Associate Dean for Admissions. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring excellence in all aspects of the UTSW’s medical student admissions process for our MD, MD/PhD, and MD/MPH programs. The Associate Dean is a member of the medical education leadership team and has broad programmatic oversight for its Admissions. The Medical School has a strong institutional commitment to excellence, innovation, and professionalism and seeks an individual who shares that commitment.
The candidate must have an MD degree (or equivalent) and have a significant record of leadership and achievement in an area of medicine and/or education. Candidates must possess excellent interpersonal communication and collaboration skills to effectively serve as part of the medical education leadership team. Prior administrative experience in a medical education and admissions committee setting is highly desirable. This is a full-time position; the successful candidate will be expected to expend 40% effort as the Associate Dean for Admissions and 60% effort related to clinical and/or research effort.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
- The successful candidate will have an M.D. (or equivalent) with a strong record of leadership in medical education, and involvement in teaching and/or mentoring activities. Candidates must be excellent communicators, highly collaborative, motivated, and have significant experience building, leading, and unifying interdisciplinary teams. The Candidate must have past experience with admissions selection processes at a Medical School.
- The appropriate series and appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on the University of Texas pay scales.
