Henry Ford Health's Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology is searching for a BC/BE Gastroenterologist to join our well-established, highly collegial, and dynamic team. The full-time clinician educator will focus their clinical and research efforts on patients with motility and functional bowel disorders. The faculty member will be actively involved in teaching GI Fellows, Residents, and medical students. The position will include inpatient and outpatient clinical duties. The faculty member will also be expected to be actively involved in the motility lab and be able to interpret upper and lower GI motility studies and perform standard endoscopic procedures. The candidate should be proficient in diagnosing and treating motility disorders and has experience in interpreting any of the following studies: anorectal manometry, Bravo pH testing, breath testing, esophageal manometry, and esophageal impedance testing.

Responsibilities will include evaluation and management of patients with upper and lower gastrointestinal motility disorders, teaching of fellows, residents and students in Gastroenterology and Hepatology, supervision of motility-focused mid-level providers, participation in clinical trials as a sub-investigator, interpretation of esophageal and anorectal motility studies, and engagement in multidisciplinary programs. Candidate will work in a multidisciplinary capacity with general, thoracic, and urogynecologic surgeons, advanced endoscopy, clinical psychology, and dietician colleagues. Academic appointment through affiliation with Wayne State School of Medicine and Michigan State University is commensurate with training and experience.

Henry Ford Medical Group is one of the nation's largest group practices with 1,900 physicians and researchers in more than 40 specialties. The Division of Gastroenterology currently employs 46 Gastroenterologists and Hepatologists, making us the largest subspecialty GI practice in Detroit and the surrounding suburbs. We are supported by 13 APPs, a full time clinical psychologist, a dietician, and 241 support staff. We have several subspecialty groups, including liver transplantation, IBD, motility, interventional GI, and hepatology. The Division provides outpatient clinic and endoscopy services at Henry Ford Hospital and 7 suburban satellites as well as inpatient consultative services at Henry Ford Hospital and Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital. The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology supports a robust training program which includes 15 GI fellows, one of which trains additionally in transplant hepatology as well as 1 additional interventional fellow for a total of 16 fellows.

Qualifications
  • Must have completed an ACGME approved Internal Medicine residency program.
  • Must have completed or are currently completing an ACGME approved Gastroenterology fellowship program.
