Job Description: The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine and the University of Vermont Health Network (UVMHN) is seeking an academic anatomic pathologist with interest and expertise in pediatric and perinatal pathology for a full-time faculty appointment. The Division of Anatomic Pathology is staffed by approximately 30 clinical FTE to review 45,000 surgical pathology specimens annually, with most faculty providing diagnostic patient care in two subspecialty areas. The candidate will join our Pediatric and Perinatal Pathology Service, currently consisting of two pathologists, and share responsibility for general pediatric diagnostics, placenta and POCs, pediatric and perinatal autopsies, COG and other research group tumor specimen management, multidisciplinary conferences, collaborative research, and educating learners at all levels. Additional subspeciality interest in other areas of anatomic pathology will be supported, allowing candidates to practice based on interests and/or prior training and experience, and thus, candidates with additional subspecialty interests or training are encouraged to apply.
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine provides important diagnostic and laboratory results to support our pediatric patients, including those patients receiving care at The University of Vermont Children’s Hospital located within the UVMMC medical campus, which is part of the University of Vermont Health Network (UVM HN). The UVM HN is composed of seven hospitals, including the academic University of Vermont Medical Center (UVMMC) in Burlington, Vermont, six community hospitals spanning the “north country” of New York and the central Vermont regions, and Home Health and Hospice. All sign-out for this position will be done at UVMMC with anticipation of some remote digital sign-out in the near future.

Key Responsibilities:
- Become a colleague in our department composed of 66 anatomic pathology, clinical pathology, and research faculty colleagues.
- Join our current Pediatric and Perinatal pathologists and receive mentorship from a nationally recognized, experienced pathologist.
- Provide diagnostic pathology for the patients we serve in Vermont, upstate New York, and New Hampshire, resulting in a total of 45,000 surgical pathology specimens annually.
- Engage in the education and mentoring of medical students, 16 residents, and fellows in general surgical pathology, dermatopathology, cytopathology, and hematopathology.
- Pursue scholarly activities and participation in clinical and/or basic science research with emphasis placed on wellness and protected academic time.
Qualifications:
- Board eligibility or certification in Anatomic Pathology.
- Fellowship training or demonstrated experience in pediatric pathology.
- Board eligibility or certification in Pediatric Pathology for those candidates with less than 10 years of experience in pediatric pathology
