The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine and Bioethics, at the University of California, Davis, School of Medicine, is recruiting for a full-time physician faculty member in the In-Residence or Clinical X series at the Assistant or Associate rank in General Internal Medicine. Faculty in the In-Residence series are expected to engage in teaching, independent research and creative work, demonstrate professional competence and activity, and provide University and public service. Faculty in the Clinical X series are expected to engage in professional competence and activity, teaching, research and creative work, and University/public service.

The candidate will make significant and creative scholarly contributions to the Division’s research mission through methodologically rigorous quantitative research that applies advanced analytic methods to large health-related datasets (from government programs, large health systems, and/or payors) in order to assess patient outcomes and their association with quality, equity, and/or value. The successful candidate will have a track record of externally funded research in this area and a history of interdisciplinary research collaborations. Candidates at the Associate level will also be passionate about mentoring and teaching junior faculty across multiple specialties or subspecialties. The candidate will be expected to maintain a portfolio of externally funded research. The candidate will be expected to spend about 20% of their time performing clinical duties in the Division. UC Davis encourages applications from candidates with experience or interest in pursuing VA-funded research in this area. Candidates interested in joint appointments with the VA Northern California Health System (UC Davis’ VA affiliate) should identify this interest clearly in their initial application. The Division is committed to supporting promising research faculty and providing the necessary resources to position them for success in obtaining external research funding.

This recruitment is conducted at the Assistant/Associate rank. The resulting hire will be at the Assistant/Associate rank, regardless of the proposed appointee's qualifications.
