CARDIOVASCULAR CRITICAL CARE OPPORTUNITY

MaineHealth Cardiovascular Service Line is seeking a full-time cardiologist with critical care training for their faculty based in Portland inpatient service at Maine Medical Center.  There are opportunities to combine this work within several established specialty programs including cardiovascular genetics, advanced cardiac imaging (PET/CMR/CT), cardio-oncology, women’s heart health, prevention, digital health, and the newly formed aortic center of excellence.

MaineHealth Cardiology is a growing multi-specialty practice, with ambulatory practice locations in Scarborough, Biddeford, Sanford, Lewiston, Brunswick, Skowhegan, North Conway (N.H.), Norway, Augusta, Waterville, Lewiston, Rockport, Damariscotta, and Farmington.  Faculty cardiologists are part of the nationally recognized Cardiovascular Service Line at Maine Medical Center, which serves as the hub for the extended MaineHealth network and partners with regional hospitals to coordinate cardiovascular care.   Our group has vast experience with Value Based Care though the Maine Heart Center and participation in BPCI-A and the MaineHealth ACO.

The position involves a direct teaching role with medical students, residents, and cardiology fellows.  The candidate will have an academic appointment at Tufts University School of Medicine and the opportunity to participate in the Tufts-Maine Track MD program.  Research opportunities are available for faculty utilizing internal and external funding sources with access to resources including the Maine Medical Center Research Institute (MMCRI).

Maine Medical Center has 700 licensed beds and is the state’s leading tertiary hospital, with a full complement of residencies and fellowships and an integral part of the Tufts University Medical School. Long recognized as a leader in cardiac care, The Maine Medical Center Cardiovascular Institute (www.mmc.org/cardiovascular) remains on the forefront of today’s most advanced treatments and procedures, and has been recognized as one of the top 100 programs in the United States.  This comprehensive program provides the highest level of expertise and leading edge technology, such that patients don’t need to leave the state for quality heart care.  We are pleased to share that the hospital is in the process of building a five-story patient care tower dedicated to cardiovascular excellence. It will be home to 19 new procedure rooms, including several hybrid ORs, as well as 64 new private patient rooms. The building is scheduled to open in early 2024.

MaineHealth serves the health care needs of patients throughout Maine and Northern New England.  This high quality team of 600+ physicians and 350+ advanced practice professionals provides a wide range of hospital based, primary, specialty, and sub-specialty adult and pediatric care delivered throughout a network of over 54 locations across the State, acting as a regional referral network.

Situated on the Maine coast, Portland offers the best of urban sophistication combined with small-town friendliness.  The area provides four season recreational opportunities, such as skiing, hiking, sailing, and miles of beautiful beaches.  Just two hours north of Boston, this is an exceptionally diverse and vibrant community.

Join MaineHealth as we work together to make our communities in the Northern New England the healthiest in America!
