Job Description

As an Advance provider - Government Clinics, you will provide safe and therapeutic care in a holistic and systemic way to include the assessment and overall management of care for a specified patient population under the supervision of a Medical Doctor. To help achieve our mission, you will exercise independent judgement in the assessment, diagnosis and initiation of medical processes and procedures in accordance with the APP licensure regulations of the Commonwealth of Virginia and as delineated in the written Scope of Practice/Protocol for APPs. Your ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with others while demonstrating respect for and an understanding of other clinical disciplines through the use of integrated approaches to achieve desired patient outcomes is of vital importance. Utilizing evidenced based standards, guidelines and protocols for care delivery while incorporating data and information to continuously improve care and practice is required. Providing direction and guidance to others regarding practice while serving as a resource and mentor is expected.

Job Responsibilities

  • Serves as a mentor for team members and facilitates the understanding of the role of the APP for other healthcare providers.
  • Communicates effectively with community partners and collaborating organizations to provide comprehensive medical services to medically and socially complex patient populations.
  • Acts as a leader in the quality improvement process while assisting in the development and revision of standards for patient populations and integrating evidence based research findings into clinical practice.
  • Performs and documents comprehensive physical/psychological exams of patients to identify priority care needs. Obtains and documents a detailed history, identifies patients at physiologic and/or psychological risk and prioritizes data based on immediate condition and needs.
  • Facilitates the assessment of patients learning needs and outcomes measures of patient education.
  • Assists in the development and revision of standards for patient populations by incorporating an interdisciplinary approach and utilizing best practices and research findings.
  • Recognizes behaviors that impact the team function and implements strategies to optimize teamwork while serving as a mentor for team members.

Additional Requirements

Certification - Basic Life Support Within 12 Months

Upon Start Top Secret Security Clearance (ISSA/TS/SCI) required.

If Team Member does not hold Top Secret Security Clearance (ISSA/TS/SCI) at the time of hire, the Team Member must obtain it within one year of the hire date.

BLS Certification; ACLS for Critical Care.

Licensure - Registered Nurse / Nurse Practitioner Upon Start / Upon Start RN Compact License (depending on state of primary residence) and a license (or eligibility for) as a nurse practitioner in the state of employment and a "Prescriptive Authority for Licensed Nurse Practitioners Practice Agreement\
