Professorship for Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anaesthesiology

The tasks of the professorship include the promotion of anaesthesiology research with focus on cardiothoracic and vascular anaesthesia on a clinical and translational level, the management of an own research program, active participation in teaching within the medical curriculum, and the coordination of junior staff promotion programs and continuing education for medical specialists.

The successful candidate will have a specialist title and clinical experience in the field of cardiothoracic and vascular anaesthesiology as well as a habilitation (or equivalent qualification) in the field. An outstanding and internationally recognized research record in a promising and innovative field of the professorship is expected as well as a successful track record in third-party funding. Particularly important for this position is a highly integrative personality, willingness to cooperate with the surgical disciplines and a sense for overarching goals. In addition, a pronounced ability and willingness to maintain relations with external hospitals and referring physicians as well as local, national and international professional societies is essential for this position.

The advertised professorship will be one of three professorships in the newly created Department of Anaesthesiology at the University Hospital Zurich: Professorship for General Anaesthesiology, Professorship for Pain Management and Outpatient Anaesthesiology, and Professorship for Cardiac, Thoracic and Vascular Anaesthesiology. Each of the three professorships heads one of three institutes together with the associated clinic within the Department of Anaesthesiology. Together, the three professorships form the Department's board of directors and lead the Department in a system of a rotating chairperson.

German language skills at level B2 of the common European framework of reference for languages should be available or must be acquired within a reasonable period of time.
