Chair, Obstetrics & Gynecology and Chief of Maternal-Fetal Medicine
The Yale New Haven Health System, one of the premier academic health systems in the nation, is seeking an inaugural Chair of the Department of OB/GYN at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital and Vice Chair in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at Yale School of Medicine. We are seeking a board certified specialist in maternal-fetal medicine who will also be part of the MFM Division at Yale School of Medicine.
The next Chair is expected to take a leading role in this evolution as it relates to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital and it’s OB/GYN services. Program development, recruitment, research, etc. should be viewed through a broad lens of utilizing the resources and reputation of Yale’s Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences to enhance and complement the strategic opportunity for growth at Lawrence & Memorial. To further this advancement, the Chair will also serve as Vice Chair, Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at the Yale School of Medicine in addition to receiving an appropriate appointment as a Yale faculty member. In the Vice Chair role, the candidate will serve as a member of the Yale OB/GYN Department leadership team and play an integral role in decisions that affect the entire health system and University.
Working in close partnership with the executive leadership at Lawrence & Memorial and Yale’s Department leaders, the Chair is a key member of the senior leadership team engaged in defining the overall business strategy and clinical direction for OB/GYN services. The next Chair will be the spokesperson for the Department and a visible leader involved in running the day-to-day aspects of the Department – including clinical operations, strategic planning and growth, program development, recruitment and training.
They will have an extraordinary opportunity to take advantage of the institution’s commitment to invest resources in OB/GYN services to achieve ambitious growth goals, including significant program development that will elevate Lawrence & Memorial’s OB/GYN services to become the regional leader for obstetric and gynecologic care. The Chair will lead the expansion of these services with an opportunity to recruit faculty and build effective, high quality programs.
Professional Experience/Qualifications
- Qualified candidates will possess a MD/DO doctoral level degree and board certification in OB/GYN and Maternal-Fetal Medicine.
- They should have a distinguished academic background that includes a history of achievement in education, scholarship, clinical care, service, and administration with an emphasis on administrative experience in an academic health system. Scholarship should be sufficient to qualify for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor/Professor at Yale School of Medicine.
- They will have a current Connecticut state medical license or ability to gain and retain licensure in Connecticut.
