Inova offers comprehensive wound healing centers for the treatment of complex wounds with delays or potential for delay in healing. We are looking for an experienced Advance Practice Provider, Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, to join our growing practice at Woodburn Medical Park

Job Responsibilities

  • Applies principles of asepsis and infection control skillfully.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of all areas of wound assessment and treatment.
  • Demonstrates manual dexterity in the use of Surgical Instruments.
  • Able to perform and remain calm under critical, stressful and emergent situations and functions independently when requested.
  • Demonstrates superior knowledge of normal and pathological anatomy and physiology.
  • Demonstrates superior surgical/medical knowledge of wound care procedures and exhibits competency in the use of specialized equipment and the knowledge base to prepare allografts, etc.
  • Performs patient assessment.
  • Reviews and evaluates patient charts and required labs, X-rays and ECG while discussing patient results with the attending/supervising physician, and/or appropriate clinician.
  • Collaborates with wound center team to determine positioning techniques, instrumentation requirements, and patients needs and confers with attending/supervising physician as indicated.
  • Advocates patient rights from the patient/family perspective: provides counsel and acts as a resource to resolve issues.
  • Provides continuing patient and family medical education.
  • Performs pertinent H&P exam with respect to clinical condition.
  • Attends wound center in services/CME's, wound center staff meetings and in services related to new equipment/instrumentation.
  • Maintains all annual Inova competencies. Collaborates with wound center team and leadership to develop and implement an education plan for on going education, mentorship program or new staff members and students.
  • Seeks leadership opportunities within an area of expertise.
  • Serves as a resource and mentor for staff members.
  • Maintains both board certifications and CME requirements as determined by the NCCPA.
  • Rectification exam every 6 years, 100 CME per two year logging period.
  • Maintains state licensure as a PA-C.
  • Establish and maintains Medical Staff privileges at IMVH. Maintains current knowledge, trends and advances in medicine and surgery.
  • Under the direction of the attending/supervising physician, performs rounds on patients to assess their progress and deliver surgical care as appropriate, i.e., wound care, suture removal, graft management, etc.
  • Performs and or writes patient assessments, progress notes, discharge notes and orders.
  • Reviews and assesses all appropriate X-rays, and pertinent laboratory to determine and maintain appropriate treatment plan.
  • Assesses and manages patient throughout the course of treatment and communicates patient status to attending/supervising physician and/or treatment team.

Additional Requirements

    • Graduation from an accredited physician assistant or nurse practitioner program
    • Virginia State License
    • DEA
    • Minimum 1 year experience as a APP
