Director of Dermatopathology

The Department of Pathology at Michigan Medicine is seeking an experienced M.D., D.O., or M.D., Ph.D. pathology- or dermatology-trained, dermatopathologist to assume the role of Director of Dermatopathology. The successful candidate will have an established academic track record of peer-reviewed work is desired.

The Michigan Medicine Department of Pathology accessions over 28,000 dermatopathology specimens annually, with cases from our busy dermatology clinics, and our dermatopathology referral service that includes rich private consultation and outreach practices. Our world-class health care system houses a comprehensive Cancer Center, including a cutaneous oncology clinic, providing an abundant source of material for research and diagnostic practice. The Dermatopathology Section includes up to 9 pathology- or dermatology-trained faculty, and contains a CLIA-certified molecular laboratory, providing ample opportunities for collaborative molecular research and test development.

The Department of Pathology at Michigan Medicine comprises over 200 faculty members, and has extramural research support that has consistently ranked in the top 10 nationally for NIH funding over the past 10 years. Unique intra-departmental funding opportunities to support and promote faculty research are available. With two dermatopathology fellows, a large residency program, and numerous subspecialty fellowships, the department provides unique and varied teaching opportunities for its clinical faculty.

The Appointment will be at the level of Associate Professor or Professor (Clinical Track), and commensurate with the candidate’s level of experience, accomplishments, and track record of academic achievement. Excellent diagnostic and communication skills, and board certification in Dermatopathology, are required.
