Faculty Physician – Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine, Boston, MA
The Division of Sports Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital is seeking an orthopedic sports medicine surgeon with strong clinical skills and a strong academic focus on research and education. Training in both orthopedic sports medicine and pediatric orthopedics is preferred.
We are a multidisciplinary team of physicians, surgeons, dietitians, sports psychology clinicians, and sports podiatrists. The orthopedic sports medicine team includes seven sports medicine surgeons and cares for sports-related injuries in children, adolescents, and young adults involving the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, foot, and ankle. Specialized programs exist for concussion, running injuries, female athletes, performing artists, and sports ultrasound.
The program includes two central outpatient clinic hubs in Boston and Waltham and four satellite clinics in the metro Boston area. Surgeries are performed at the main hospital in Boston and at satellite surgery centers in Waltham, Lexington, and Medford. On-call orthopedic surgery duties are shared with pediatric orthopedic surgeons within the overall department. Research activities are coordinated within the Clinical Effectiveness Research Center (CERC).
The Division of Sports Medicine is affiliated with the Boston Ballet and the Boston Marathon. Many of our physicians are team physicians for local high school and collegiate teams.
Responsibilities include clinical practice, resident and fellow education, and clinical, translational, and/or basic science research. Salary and academic rank of instructor, assistant, or associate will be commensurate with experience and academic credentials. ABOS certification, or eligibility for ABOS certification, in both Orthopaedic Surgery and subspeciality certification in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine is required.
